Skoda India records 34.8 percent sales growth

New Delhi, Oct 1 (IANS) Skoda India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Skoda Auto of Czech Republic, Wednesday said it has recorded 34.8 percent sales growth in September 2008.

 

The company said in a statement that it has sold 1,213 units in September 2008, against 900 units it sold in the same period last year.

 

 

The country's first super hatch Skoda Fabia recorded sales of 486 units.

 

 

Skoda has been operating in India since November 2001 as a subsidiary of Skoda Auto, part of European auto major Volkswagen Group.

 

 

It has set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Shendra near Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

 

 

The facility is spread across 300,000 square metres.

 

 

Skoda India now has 19 car models in the country.
