How laughter keeps Michelle Obama's love life alive

London, Feb 14 (ANI): Ever wondered how US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle keep their relationship fresh even after 19 years of marriage? Here's the simple answer- they keep each other smiling.

On the occasion of Valentine's Day, Michelle revealed that she and Obama maintain the romance in their marriage with 'a lot of laughing' - and a 'little attitude' from her when necessary, reports the Daily Mail.

"I think in our house we don't take ourselves too seriously, and laughter is the best form of unity, I think, in a marriage," she told reporters at a White House luncheon.

"So we still find ways to have fun together, and a lot of it is private and personal. But we keep each other smiling and that's good," she added.

Her advice certainly seems to be working so far - the couple have been married for almost 19 years and have dealt with the strains of his political campaigns to become first Senator and then President.

In an earlier interview, the First Lady revealed her husband is 'very romantic' - but sometimes even the President needs a 'little attitude' to make sure he remembers important dates.

"He doesn't forget a thing, even when I think he is. I'll have a little attitude. I give him a little attitude, but he always comes through," said Michelle.

"Got to keep the romance alive, even in the White House," she added.

But she said the couple, who have two children - Sasha, 9 and Malia, 12 - do not normally make too much fuss over Valentine's Day because they are too tired.

She said, "We don't make a big deal out of Valentine's Day because my birthday was the 17th (of January).'"

Previous Valentine's Day celebrations by the Obamas included last year's night at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland, which was a contrast to 2009's trip home to Chicago where the couple dined at Table 52, owned by Art Smith, former chef to Oprah Winfrey.

But Michelle still had some advice for Obama about what to buy her for this year's Valentine's Day - she said he 'couldn't go wrong' with jewellery. (ANI)
