SonyLIV forays into regional content with Marathi web series

Mumbai, Jan 12 (IANS) SonyLIV, the digital platform of Sony Pictures Networks' India, on Thursday announced the launch of "YOLO", which it said is the first regional language web series on an OTT (Over-the-top) platform in India.

Conceptualised and developed by Indian Magic Eye Pvt Ltd (IMEPL), "YOLO" is centred on four young adults - Choko (Shivraj Waichal), Sarika (Shivani Rangole), Rochak (Ruturaj Shinde) and Pari (Shashwati Pimplikar).

Directed by Sameer Vidwans, "YOLO", which went live on Wednesday, tells the story of four individuals who unexpectedly go through a series of dramatic events that transforms their perspectives on love, relationships, sex and life, read a statement.

The story also involves differences of opinion between two generations on concepts of morality and ethics.

Uday Sodhi, Executive Vice President and Head - Digital Business, Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt Ltd, said: "The Marathi regional audience is gradually emerging as a large and strong consumer base for original content on the digital medium. To cater to their emerging desire for high-quality entertainment in their language and with a cultural essence, they can relate to, we are proud to roll out 'YOLO', the country's first-ever web series in a regional language."

"This move underlines our commitment to deliver the most appealing original content across the traditional boundaries of genres, languages or geographies. The motive is to delight and entertain, whilst also raising the common issues surrounding the youth."

Actors Sai Tamhankar, Nagesh Bhosale and Anand Ingle also feature in this web series.
