Jammu, Jan 5 (IANS) Newly appointed Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat paid his maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir, arriving here in the state's winter capital on Thursday.
General Rawat was briefed about the security situation on the borders of the state by Northern Command chief Lt. Gen. Devraj Anbu at Udhampur headquarters, a defence spokesperson said.
Gen. Rawat was also scheduled to visit some forward positions on the Line of Control, which divides the state into two parts, where he will interact with the field commanders and deployed troops.
