Sony Xperia Z5: Is It Really Sony's Best Model So Far?

New Delhi, Thu, 05 May 2016 NI Wire

Sony has come out with the Xperia Z5 range - which is touted to be the best model so far from Sony's end. Announced in the year 2015, the phone has finally come out in the international market and it remains to be seen how well it would fare.

Let us here find out if Sony Xperia Z5 deserves to be your next buy:

Look & Feel

When we talk of design, it can be seen that Sony has stuck to its formula it has used for Xperia Z. This new device has the same square industrial look and which makes it instantly identifiable as a Sony handset. However, The Z5 looks more attractive than earlier models - all due to its new frosted glass rear cover. The phone will be available in white, gold, green and graphite black.

It has a 5.2in screen with Full HD resolution with Snapdragon 810 processor, earlier it was rumored to be 820.

Other Specifications

Xperia Z5 has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with a Micro-SD card slot which accepts up to 200GB more.
The range is known for good battery life and Z5 stand to be no exception at all. It has non-removable battery of 2900mAh which is quick to charge. Your device can get five and half hours usage just from 10 minute charge.

The Z5 works on 5.1 Lollipop and it has been stated that Sony will make Android 6.0 Marshmallow available for this range.
While most of the features in the new phone are similar to that of previous Xperia models, Sony begs to differ in tow aspects: camera and fingerprint sensor.

Fingerprint Sensor

The company did admit that they delayed the process of getting fingerprint feature on their devices. But with Z5 they’ve finally joined the race. Contrary to other smartphones, Z5 has it inside the power button. It’s an impressive move as it sits on side and is actually slim but also offers more ergonomic position – precisely where your thumb obviously falls when you pick the device. All you have to do is simply push the power button and the sensor does its job.

Camera

Coming to camera - Xperia Z5 has 23Mp main camera (1/2.3in and f/2 aperture) with a variety of improvements and features. And interestingly, you’ll get the same camera experience on its Compact and Premium models as well.

Video

With Z5, you’ll have a great video experience as the device is equipped with dual front-facing speakers. Moreover, Xperia Z5 sticks out from crowd as it has covered the two speakers within the phone. At first glance, you would not even realize that the device has speakers attached. This is surely one impressive move by Sony.

Verdict

If we compare the new flagship from Sony to its Z3+, then we can easily declare Z5 the winner given the improvements it has shown. The new frosted glass cover, fingerprint scanner in the form of slim power button, concealed speakers and attractive color choices are all perfect to develop a liking for this device.

The camera is certainly not up to the mark as there are many smartphones in the market which offer better camera quality – and many are even cheaper as compared to Sony Xperia. The price has come down and now you can get it at an affordable value with a Micro-SD card slot.

Though good on certain aspects, Sony Xperia Z5 still can’t be called the perfect or flawless piece of 2016. It does have its set of flaws and if Sony can work on those for its next flagship – the company would surely enjoy a big win over its rivals!
