Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4 Or Moto G 2015: Find Out Which Smartphone You Should Upgrade To

New Delhi, Mon, 23 May 2016 NI Wire

With the Lenovo owned Motorola launching its Moto G4 and G4 Plus in India, we’ve now got two more choices when it comes to budget premium smartphones.

It is to note that Moto G4 happens to be the entry-level smartphone and is the heir to Motorola’s admired third generation Moto G 2015 devices. Though we still have no update about the handset’s price in Indian market but we can surely expect it to be lesser than that of G4 Plus, which is priced Rs. 13,499 for its 2GB and 16GB model and Rs. 14,999 for its 3GB and 32GB alternate.

Now that it has launched two devices with high-end features, the existing user base may get a bit confused wondering which device they should actually upgrade to.

This is why we’ve got this detailed info on the specifications of each so that you decide which version you should upgrade to:

Display

Starting with display, the Motorola G4 and G4 Plus have the same 5.5-inch Full HD displays backed by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and 401ppi. For the Moto G 2015 smartphone users, this will surely be a noteworthy upgrade as this one has 5-inch display with just HD 720p resolution. An upgrade to the latest versions will offer you better picture quality and perfect colors.

Camera

Next comes in the camera, here Moto G4 sports a 13-MP primary camera which has dual LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, auto HDR and PDAF. However, this one is not really a bigger change from that of the 13MP main camera and multilayer IR filter with f/2.0 aperture as seen in Moto G (3rd gen).

Moving on to Moto G4 Plus, this is one ideal upgrade as it has 16-MP primary camera with OmniVision Pure Cell Plus sensor, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED color-balance flash. As compared to G4 and G3, the G4 Plus will provide you with excellent picture quality.  As for resolution, they have the same for selfies.  The three of them have 5MP front-camera with G4 Plus only the one decked with wide-angle lens.

Processor, RAM and storage

The Moto G 2015 edition comes with a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU backed by 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. But the Moto G4 series come backed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core SoC which is clocked at 1.5GHz. in the new variants, RAM and storage has just doubled to 2GB and 16GB.

Moto G4 Plus has higher storage version with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage for which you’ll have to pay just Rs. 1,500 extra. Though all of them support microSD card slot, it’s only G4 Plus which can allow expansion up to 128GB. So if you’re using the older Moto G3, the ne upgrade would be worth as it offers higher storage as well as RAM.

Battery

Next in line is the battery, the Moto G4 and G4 Plus come with 3,000mAh battery backed by Turbo Charging feature that allows six hours runtime to the device only for 15 minutes of charge. The Moto G 2015 doesn’t have this quick charging feature and its battery is also 2,470mAh battery which is quite smaller.

Software and Additional Features

Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4 and Moto G 2015 are backed by Google's Android OS. Moto G4 and G4 Plus run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, while Moto G 2015 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Moto G4 Plus has the fingerprint scanner on its home button. This latest feature is lacking in both Moto G4 and G3. As for connectivity, three of them offer Dual SIM and 4G LTE support.

Verdict

From the specifications as we saw above, it’s quite clear that Moto G4 Plus comes with the most recent features and is indeed the ideal of the three. So, if you’re looking for an upgrade, it has to be to the Moto G4 Plus.
