Pakistan reminded India on obligations of Indus Water Treaty

Under the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), Pakistan has reminded India of its province and warned India. Pakistan indicated that if India will violate in the treaty then Government of India would have to suffer.

An official said, “New Delhis own credibility would suffer if the accord was violated.”

“India has to abide by its international obligations, if it wants to be taken seriously by the International community,” said by Foreign Office spokesperson nafees Zakaira at the Weekly Media briefing.

After the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s that the water that “rightfully belongs to Inida” under the water sharing accord could not be allowed to go to Pakistan, the Foreign Office Spokesperson of Pakistan commented on Thursday evening.

Zakaria said that the Indus Waters Treaty was a binding agreement under the Vienna Convention.

After the raise in tensions from Uri-militant attack, India has been indication its intention to change the accord.

After the Uri-militant attacks, recently Nagrota militant attack was held near Jammu on November 29, in which seven army men sacrificed their lives for the country and killed five militants.

In this attack, militants attacked on the army camp at a distance of 15 Km away from Jammu. The militants sneaked in India from Pakistan by crossing the International Border line and started firing on the camp. When the security forces started the operation then the heavy exchange of fire happened.

After the killing the militants, the security forces started the search operation in which they got a bomb which was later difused by them. In this attack 2 officers and 5 soldiers martyred.
