New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS) At a time when the debate around pollution and environmental degradation is at its peak, an upcoming photo exhibition titled "Habitat Photosphere" will take a look at the issue through the aesthetic prism.

The exhibition would be held at the India Habitat Centre and at Jor Bagh and Mandi House metro stations for a month, starting December 1.

The photography festival that aims to bring into focus sustainable development and environmental awareness was curated and conceptualised by renowned art connoisseur Alka Pande.

The exhibition will feature Pande's animation work on River Ganga, artist Ashim Ghosh's light-based installation titled "Illume on view", while Swiss artist Ursula Biemann would be showcasing a video work called "Deep Weather".

In addition, at the Jor Bagh Metro station, authors Kavita Singh Kale and Santosh Kale would be showing images from their graphic novel project called "17 Seen Unseen" that was published for young adults commissioned by Unesco's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

"Photosphere is a concept and an umbrella which addresses the seminal concern of sustainable development in the world using democratic and immediate medium of visual culture, namely photography.

"We are a festival with a green conscience evoking the bhaav (emotion) of sustainable developments across all genres of photography.

"The exhibition will act as a sign-post for the nation, urging them to ruminate on environmental issues -- a matter of critical importance, through the lens of photography," said Photosphere's Artistic Director Pande.
