Under the leadership of BJP Delhi Pradesh President Satish Upadhyay the workers staged demonstrations at various Delhi Jal Board Offices of Delhi including its headquarters Varunalaya today to protest against severe scarcity of water in Delhi and inflated water supply bills.
The BJP workers of Karol Bagh District under the leadership of Satish Upadhyay and District President Rajan Tiwari assembled at Faiz Road and proceeded to the headquarters of Delhi Jal Board Varunalaya and staged demonstration at 11 am.
Addressing the demonstrators Satish Upadhyay said that Arvind Kejriwal came to power by showing golden dreams to the people of Delhi and after that he made a U-turn on his promise to supply power at 50 percent reduced rates and free water to all and now he has forced the people of Delhi to crave for water & power and he is busy in playing political gimmicks.
Upadhyay said that Delhi is being supplied more raw water from Haryana, UP and Uttrakhand but Delhi Government has failed to supply water to the people according to their needs. There is not only scarcity of water in Delhi but the water which is being supplied is also not worth drinking and the supply of free drinking water has become a matter of joke. Every day we are receiving complaints in our office from the people saying that even the people living in two room flats and having a 500 litres tank and getting supply of water only on alternate days yet they are being served bills of Rs. 2000 to 2500.
Upadhyay said that Delhi Jal Board has become a white elephant and it has not only failed to supply water but also failed in maintaining the sewer system. The Yamuna River of the capital of the country is the most polluted river today because the sewage treatment plants of the government are not working. Due to corruption in the Delhi Jal Board the sewer system is not being maintained and even for small defects in the system the officers and MLAs are approving contracts for replacing the sewer line and benefitting due to it.
MLAs Vijender Gupta, Om Prakash Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan, MCD Leaders Yogender Chandoliya, Virender Babbar, Pradesh Office bearers Smt. Rekha Gupta, Jai Prakash, Abhay Verma, Kuljeet Chahal, Smt. Kiran Chaddha, Jaiveer Rana, Smt. Sudha Sharma, Harish Khurana, Mahender Gupta, Hukum Singh Chaudhary participated in demonstrations at various places and addressed the workers.
The worker of New Delhi District staged demonstration under the leadership of Pradesh President Satish Upadhyay and District President Suresh Sharma at 10 am today at Green Park DJB Office. Under the leadership of MLA Om Prakash Sharma, Pradesh Vice President Kuljeet Chahal, District President Kanwar Sain the workers of Shahdara District staged demonstration at Preet Vihar Jal Board Office. Under the leadership of MLA Vijender Gupta and District President Vinod Sehrawat the workers of North West District, staged demonstration at Rithala Metro Station. Under the leadership of MLA Jagdish Pradhan, Vice President Abhay Verma and District President Dr. Anil Kumar Gupta workers of Naveen Shahdara District staged demonstration at Bhagirathi Water Plant.
Under the leadership of Pradesh Vice President Jai Prakash and District President Jayendra Dabas the worker of Outer Delhi District staged demonstration at Nangloi Jal Board Office. The workers of Chandni Chowk District under the leadership of National leader Abdul Rasheed and District General Secretary Praveen Jain demonstrated at Baratooti Chowk. Under the leadership of Pradesh General Secretary Smt. Rekha Gupta and District President Sanjeev Sharma the workers of Keshavpuram District demonstrated at Jahangirpuri Jal Board Office. Under the leadership of District President Raj Kumar Ballan and former MLA Sahab Singh Chauhan the workers of North East District demonstrated at Khajoori Chowk Jal Board Office. Under the leadership of District Vice President Smt. Maya Chaudhary the workers of Mayur Vihar District demonstrated at Mayur Vihar Jal Board Office.
