The Delhi cabinet, in its meeting chaired by the chief minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal decided to convene a special session of the Delhi legislative assembly in May 26 and 27 (Tuesday and Wednesday).
Legal opinions from noted Constitutional expert Mr KK Venugopal and former Solicitor General of India Mr Gopal Subramanium were placed before the cabinet and discussed in the meeting.
The cabinet also decided that depending on the requirement, the session can be extended further.
It is noted that amid the confusion and confrontations with LG and Delhi government, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the notification on Friday in which it has said that Lieutenant Governor Jung has primacy in postings and transfers of officers belonging to Central services.
On the other hand, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had reacted strongly to it and said that the NDA Government at the Centre was trying to run the national capital through the 'backdoor'.
Kejriwal had also stated that the notification was indicative of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) nervousness about the Aam Aadmi Party's anti-corruption efforts.
