New Delhi: The Lt. Governor of Delhi, Sh. Najeeb Jung has greeted the people and wished them peace, harmony, progress and prosperity on the occasion of 66th Republic Day, while unfurling the tricolor in the Republic day celebrations organized by the Delhi Government at Chhatrashal Stadium today. Jung was given guard of honour by the contingents of Delhi Police, Civil Defence, Delhi Fire Service, NCC and Children of various schools.

Underlining the importance of the day of celebration, Sh. Najeeb Jung said that 65 years ago, we the people of India gave ourselves a sovereign democratic republic to secure to all its citizens justice, liberty and equality. We undertook to promote among all citizens fraternity, the dignity of the individual and the unity of the nation. Democracy became our most precious guide towards peace and regeneration.

Jung said that we have been working hard to realize the dream of India as a great nation. In the previous years, we have made tremendous progress and our country is now counted among the frontline nation of the world. However, a lot more remains to be accomplished. The world is changing fast, new challenges are emerging and we have to overcome these challenges and continue to grow at a faster pace.

Jung said that this is the time to reflect and pay a tribute to all those who have contributed to the cause of building our great nation. We are proud of our achievements and contributions to the nation. I am sure that the citizens of Delhi will continue to work sincerely to make the city as well as the nation a strong and prosperous place. The Government of Delhi is committed to holistic and inclusive development of the National Capital and welfare of its people. The Government's partnership with the citizens of Delhi is a continuous endeavour towards development and prosperity.

The Lt. Governor said that it has been Government‘s continuous endeavour to improve schools infrastructure and facilities. In the healthcare sector, Delhi is emerging as a health care hub in the region with a modern urban health care system. I also call upon the citizens of the city to make this city friendly and secure for our women with deep sensitization within our families.
