Road Safety Week-2015: Road Safety and Mahila Shakti Cycle Rally organized

As a part of Road Safety Week–2015, a Road Safety and Mahila Shakti Cycle Rally was organized by Delhi Traffic Police in association with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Delhi Police Yuva Foundation, Truth of Universe, an NGO at PS Mayur Vihar complex in East District area. Among those present included various senior officers of Delhi Police, representative from NGOs, JK Tyres and 3M Reflective Tape. Dr. Muktesh Chander, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) was the Chief Guest.

At the outset, Ms. Sushila Chauhan, a physically disabled and special need lady, welcomed the Chief Guest and all the participants by presenting a patriotic song. A Nukkad Natak was also performed by students from different parts of East Delhi to inculcate the sense of road safety amongst the motorists and need for wearing helmet while driving two-wheelers.

A women self-defense training programme was organized by East District Police wherein different techniques for self-defense especially for women were shown. Muktesh Chander, Special CP/Traffic, speaking on the occasion commended the role played by various road safety agencies and told that they play their own role within their realms. Spl.CP/Traffic told the participants to pledge that they will adhere to traffic rules while driving. They were also asked to encourage their near and dear ones to follow the same. Spl. CP/Traffic also distributed certificates to the children and representatives from NGOs.

Sanjay Beniwal, Joint CP/Eastern Range also commended the role played by various agencies and Road Safety Cell of Traffic Police in promoting road safety and asked them to continue their support with same zeal in future as well.
