Seventh Central Pay Commission established, will submit report within two years

Government on Tuesday announced the establishment of Seventh Central Pay Commission under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge Ashok Kumar Mathur.

The panel will submit its report in two years and the recommendations would be implemented from Jan 1, 2016.

Seventh Central Pay Commission will review the salaries of over 5 million government employees.

Besides the chairman Ashok there will be one full-time member Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Vivek Rae and one part-time member National Institute of Public Finance and Policy director

Rathin Roy. The composition of the Commission has been approved Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Meena Agarwal, an officer on special duty in the finance ministry's expenditure department, has been appointed the Commission's secretary.
