Will contest from Varanasi if people want me to: Arvind Kejriwal

Bangalore , Sun, 16 Mar 2014 ANI

Bangalore, Mar. 16 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that he would contest against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from Varanasi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if the people wanted him to.

"I will also hold a rally in Varanasi, and if the people of Varanasi want me to contest, I will wholeheartedly accept it. I will contest against Modi from there," said Kejriwal, while addressing a rally in Bangalore.

"Why is Modi so scared of me? He sent 1000 policemen to stop me," he said.

He further said that the people of the country were fed up with the BJP and the Congress and wanted the AAP to come to power.

"If you go to Delhi and talk to the 'Aam Aadmi' (common man) they will still say that they will vote for AAP if there are re-elections. I was the chief minister for 49 days. After I resigned, I started touring the country," said Kejriwal.

"I went to Haryana first, and people said that they were tired of the Congress there. There is too much corruption in Haryana. In Maharashtra as well people are disappointed with the Congress, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)," he said.

"In Karnataka, people are disappointed with both the Congress, BJP. Then I went to Uttar Pradesh and saw that the people were disappointed with Mayawati, and so they brought Akhilesh to power, although they were not relieved even after that," he added.

He also said that there had been a lot of riots in UP after Akhilesh Yadav came to power.

"There have been 102 riots between Hindu-Muslims since he (Akhilesh Yadav) came to power. People are also disappointed with the Congress and the BJP," said Kejriwal.

"I don't know what Modi's compulsion was to take Yeddyurappa back in the BJP. Cannot understand what compelled the BJP to give Sriramulu a ticket," Kejriwal said.

"Narendra Modi represents the crony capitalists of the country. Modi travels in a helicopter, gives speeches, leaves. Rahul Gandhi does the same. Helicopter politics won't work anymore," he added. (ANI)
