Varanasi, Mar. 16 (ANI): Students and faculty members of Panini Girls College in temple town of Varanasi on Sunday organised special prayers for victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha elections starting next month.
Narendra Modi will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi. On Saturday, BJP leader Ananth Kumar had declared the names of senior party leaders and their respective constituencies during a press conference in New Delhi.
Following the announcement, around 108 girls prayed for Modi and chanted hymns to ensure his victory in nine-phased general elections.
"On the eve of Holi festival, we have organised special prayers for victory of Modi in Varanasi, who has been nominated for contesting election from here. We are happy and are offering special prayers and hope that he wins elections and is made the prime minister of the country," said a teacher of the college, Nandita Shastri.
After the declaration, elated Modi supporters in Varanasi immediately took to streets to celebrate and shouted pro-Modi slogans.
Meanwhile, student of the college, Vidya Hariya, also said that they are praying for Modi's victory as they consider him an ideal candidate.
"We want Narendra Modi to win the elections and hence we are participating in special prayers. We wish for his victory so that he can take command of all the responsibilities of prime minister and improve the condition of the country and take note of ill practices like corruption," said Hariya.
