United Nations, March 3 (IANS) The UN Security Council has strongly condemned a deadly terrorist attack at a railway station in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

In a statement issued Sunday, it urged "all states, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with relevant governments" in fighting terrorism, Xinhua reported.

"The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack March 1 in Kunming train station, China, which has caused numerous deaths and injuries of innocent civilians," said the statement issued by the 15-nation UN body to the press here.

Order has been restored at the train station of Kunming, a well-known tourist attraction, where a deadly terrorist attack left 29 people dead and more than 130 others injured Saturday night.

The deadly terrorist attack on civilians was strongly condemned by the international community.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Saturday condemned in the strongest terms the terrible attack.

"The secretary-general notes that there is no justification for the killing of innocent civilians and hopes that those responsible will be brought to justice," said the statement issued by Ban's spokesman.
