Arvind Kejriwal asks Kiran Bedi to be AAP's chief ministerial candidate in Delhi

New Delhi , Mon, 26 Aug 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Aug.26 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said his party would be glad to nominate former IPS officer Kiran Bedi as their party's chief ministerial candidate in Delhi.

"We have been asking Kiran Bedi to join AAP but she clearly said she was not interested in politics. Even today we want Kiran Bedi to join AAP and if she joins we will nominate her as CM candidate of AAP because she has done a lot for our country. If such a person becomes the Chief Minister, it will be very good," he said.

Kejriwal further said an honest officer like Kiran Bedi would never join a corrupt party like the BJP.

"If BJP is saying that Kiran Bedi will join their party, it's their plot. Kiran Bedi is such an honest officer, how can she ever join such a corrupt party? It is impossible that she would join BJP," he added.

Earlier a Times of India report said that top sources in the BJP have confirmed that Kiran Bedi, a known BJP supporter, has been asked to stand against Kejriwal.

When contacted by the newspaper, Bedi neither confirmed nor denied the news. "I am not interested in electoral politics and I have maintained this all throughout," said Bedi. (ANI)
