JD-U needs Narendra Modi, says Rudy

Bihar,Politics, Thu, 06 Jun 2013 IANS

Patna, June 6 (IANS) BJP national general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy Thursday asked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to use Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for brightening the NDA's poll prospects in the next general elections.

"There is little doubt that Modi's service is required by the BJP and by the JD-U in Bihar," Rudy said here.

Rudy said most JD-U workers and leaders in Bihar privately admit that they need Modi. "JD-U workers admit openly that they require Modi to improve the party's polls prospect in the state," he said.

"The NDA and the country needs a strong leader," Rudy said.

Nitish Kumar has repeatedly made it clear that he would not accept the BJP's leadership in a national coalition if Modi was chosen as the prime ministerial candidate.

Nitish Kumar had earlier objected to his photographs with Modi in newspaper advertisements during the the BJP's national executive meeting in Patna in June 2010.

Nitish Kumar had convinced the BJP leadership not to invite Modi to campaign in the 2009 Bihar assembly polls and in the 2010 Lok Sabha polls. The JD-U is one of the oldest ally of the NDA, led by the BJP.
