UPA biased in countering Maoists, alleges Rajnath Singh

Gwalior , Fri, 31 May 2013 ANI

Gwalior, May 31 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Friday accused the Congress-led UPA Government of not extending enough cooperation to the Raman Singh-led Chhattisgarh Government in the fight against Maoists.

Singh, who addressed a meeting of his party workers here, lauded Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh for eliminating Maoists from many districts of the state.

"I want to congratulate Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh that he has succeeded in eliminating Maoists from many districts. He has achieved success despite getting lesser co-operation than expected from the Central Government," he said.

The BJP President's remark came in wake of the recent brutal attack by Maoists on Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh.

The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister had come under sharp criticism from the Congress Party following last Saturday's audacious attack by the ultras on Congressmen in Bastar District.

Congress Party had earlier this week demanded that the Chief Minister should step down from his post, as his government and administration had failed to provide enough security to its leaders.

Meanwhile, the BJP President also claimed that the BJP would form the government in Madhya Pradesh for the third time.

"The BJP workers have helped form the BJP Government twice in Madhya Pradesh. Nobody can stop the workers from achieving hat-trick under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh," added Rajnath Singh.

The BJP rules the two neighbouring states of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, which are due to go to polls later this year. (ANI)
