Need for judicial reform but through institutional dialogue: Sibal

New Delhi, Tue, 14 May 2013 ANI

New Delhi, May 14 (ANI): Newly-appointed Law Minister Kapil Sibal has stressed the need for judicial reform but cautioned that it should be done through institutional dialogue and understanding.

Talking to media here yesterday, Sibal underlined the need to strengthen confidence of the people in the judicial system.

Emphasizing the need for structural judicial reforms, Sibal said that these can be brought about by institutional dialogue and understanding.

Sibal also dwelt upon the importance of embracing modern technology at every level of the judicial system, from investigation to decision making, and said that this is the only way change can be brought about expeditiously.

He said appointments to the higher judiciary must be through transparent processes which ensure that persons of impeccable integrity and high competence are appointed to these positions. (ANI)
