BJP 'cautions' newly-appointed Rail, Law Ministers

New Delhi , Sat, 11 May 2013 ANI

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Despite the Congress-led UPA Government dropping Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ashwani Kumar from the Union Cabinet and giving the additional charge of Railway Ministry and Law Ministry to C. P. Joshi and Kapil Sibal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said the changes of faces as such doesn't really assure the people of India on the issue of corruption, and it would now prefer a wait and watch approach.

"We will wait and see how they perform and how they really act. Lets wait and watch, but we caution them with our utmost strength that any wrongdoing on their part in future will bring even a more stronger reaction from the people of India and Bharatiya Janata Party will be standing in front with the people of India against the corruption issue," said BJP spokesperson Captain Abhimanyu.

President Pranab Mukherjee as advised by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh accepted the resignations of Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ashwani Kumar with immediate effect

As advised by the Prime Minister, President Mukherjee has directed that the additional charge of the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Law and Justice shall be given to C. P. Joshi and Kapil Sibal respectively.

Minister for Road Transport and Highways C.P. Joshi, who has been given the additional charge of Railway Ministry, has held the Railway portfolio as temporary charge last year after the exit of Trinamool Congress (TMC) nominee Mukul Roy.

Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal, who is an eminent lawyer himself, will get an opportunity to handle the Law ministry for the first time.

Bansal resigned yesterday evening following the arrest of his nephew Vijay Singla last week for allegedly accepting Rs. 90 lakh for fixing promotion in Railway Board, while Ashwani Kumar quit in the wake of a massive controversy over vetting of the CBI probe report in the coal block allocations scam.

Both Bansal and Ashwani Kumar have, however, denied any wrongdoing on their part. (ANI)
