Bangalore , Wed, 01 May 2013 ANI

Bangalore, May 1 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said the Congress Party would emerge victorious in the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls.

Reddy said that the people of Karnataka are disillusioned with the incumbent BJP Government.

"As indications are the Congress Party is going to pull of one of its biggest victories in Karnataka. The people are fed up of the two previous governments both in ways of development and in ways of corruption," he said.

Reddy also lauded the Congress manifesto in which the party has promised various development schemes for the poor.

"The Congress Party has given a very good manifesto with a lot of popular schemes, which are going to help the downtrodden which are going to help the poor and which are going to help the middle class and which is going to help the development of Bangalore and Karnataka in a big way," he said.

The Congress Party, which is campaigning to overthrow the BJP Government in Karnataka, is leaving no stone unturned in wooing the voters ahead of the polls.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and former External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna are some of the prominent names of the Congress Party who have so far campaigned in Karnataka.

An estimated 2,900 candidates have entered the fray for the assembly polls in Karnataka.

Indian National Congress (INC) has fielded 224 candidates for the Karnataka polls, while the BJP has given tickets to 223 candidates this time.

Elections to the 224-member Karnataka legislative assembly are to be held on May 5 and the counting of votes will be taken up on May 8. (ANI)
