New Delhi, Apr. 5 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee conferred Padma awards to eminent persons for their achievements in various fields at a civil investiture ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Friday.
President Mukherjee presented two Padma Vibhushan, ten Padma Bhushan and forty-two Padma Shri awards.
International renowned sculptor Raghunath Mahopatra and Energy Physicist Prof. Yash Pal were conferred Padma Vibhushans.
Former Indian cricket skipper Rahul Dravid, Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, DRDO Director General Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat were among the ten Padma Bhushan awardees.
Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor, veteran Malayalam actor Madhu, Sanskrit and Hindi Scholar Ramakant Shukla were among the 42 eminent personalities who received the Padma Shri awards.
Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Union Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Minister S. Jaipal Reddy and Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. (ANI)
