If government wishes to arrest me, I am ready, says JKLF chief Yasin Malik

Islamabad, Feb. 12 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik on Tuesday said that if the government of India wants to cancel his passport and arrest him for sharing dais with 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Hafiz Saeed, he is ready for that.

Yasin Malik, a moderate Hurriyat leader, was on a hunger strike over the weekend in Islamabad to protest against the execution of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, where Hafiz Saeed also joined him on the stage.

According to certain media reports, the government is now considering revoking his passport and he will be questioned by the security agencies as soon as he returns to India.

However, Yasin Malik clarified that no one was invited to the meeting and the people from different walks of life had gathered there to mourn Afzal's hanging.

People from civil society groups in Pakistan, human rights activist, intellectuals and all the leaders of Azad Kashmir including students had gathered there, but nobody was invited. It was not a public meeting. But, if the Indian Government wish to cancel my passport and send me to jail or interrogation centre, they can do it," said Malik.

"Jail has been my second home as I have already spent more that ten years in the prison. I believe that it (Afzal hanging) was done only because of the election next year. The fascists in India created the hype and he (Afzal) become easy prey," he added.

Malik was seen seated next to Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa and considered to have planned the November 26, 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in which 166 people were killed, in Islamabad on Sunday. (ANI)
