Gurgaon, Feb 8 (IANS) Income tax officials from Delhi Friday conducted raids at the offices of real estate developers S.S. Group here and in Delhi, said an employee of firm.
The S.S. Group is headed by Sukhbir Singh Jonapuria, a former legislator from Sohna constituency in Haryana.
The company's offices in a mall on Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road near IFFCO Chowk and site offices in sectors 82, 83 and 84 were raided.
Jonapuria's house in south Delhi's Chhattarpur and Sohna in Gurgaon were also searched.
"The team raided the offices of the S.S. Group. Its offices at Bristol Hotel and on Sohna Road were also searched," said an employee of the company on the condition of anonymity.
"Over a dozen officers in three vehicles first went to an upcoming project in Sector 84 near Sikanderpur (Sihi). No senior employee of the group as present at the site. Those who were there, fled," a guard at the site told IANS requesting not to be named.
No official of the company was available for comment despite repeated efforts by IANS.
According to the sources from the company, the raids were regarding misappropriation in the company's funds.
