Agassi says 2013 can be Murray's 'breakthrough' year

London , Mon, 14 Jan 2013 ANI

London, Jan 14(ANI): Tennis champ Andre Agassi believes Andy Murray can aim for the stars this year after bagging the US Open and the Olympic gold last year.

Agassi said it was important for Murray to break his Grand Slam duck after winning the US Open, adding his success last year has given him confidence to compete at the highest level, the Sun reports.

The eight-time Grand Slam champion said Murray is brimming with self-believe currently and must be more confident facing the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Murray kicks off his first glory charge of 2013 against Dutchman Robin Haase in the first round of the Australian Open.

The world No 3 arrives here with many tipping him to become the first player in the Open era to instantly follow up a first Slam title with a second.

Agassi said the manner in which Murray won at the Flushing Meadows was very important, adding the Scot would now realize that he doesn't has to wait for rivals to implode, but make things work on his own.

The four-times Oz Open champion said Murray can really challenge Federer, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal this year if he continues where he left in 2012. (ANI)
