Dense fog disrupts air traffic in Delhi again

New Delhi, Mon, 14 Jan 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): A thick blanket of fog enveloped the national capital on Monday morning, reducing visibility on the streets and severely disrupting air traffic.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), today's minimum temperature settled at 10.6 degree Celsius, three notches above average.

However, dense fog that had enveloped Indira Gandhi International Airport disrupted the schedule of over 40 flights, including diversions of eight to other cities.

The fog started to descend at the airport around 8 p.m. last night but it become dense from 11.30 pm.

The general visibility and the runway visibility worsened after 2.30 a.m. when it reduced to less than 50 metres.

North India usually witnesses early morning fog every winter when night temperatures often dip below five degrees Celsius. (ANI)
