Monsoon session ends sine die; PM blams BJP for negating democracy

The Monsoon session of Parliament concludes today as both houses of Parliament has been adjourned sine die without doing any job as the impasses continue today on the last day of 20 days long monsoon session.

Today, Lok Sabha has been adjourned first till 12 p.m. and second for sine die while Rajya Sabha was adjourned today three times first till 12 p.m., second till lunch and last for sine die due to agitation continues in both houses.

The BJP MPs on the 13th consecutive day remain stick on their demand of Prime Minister?s resignation which disrupt the proceedings.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after ending the Parliament session blamed to Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for negating the democracy.

"We take pride in the fact we had a functional democracy. But what we have witnessed in this session is total negation of that," he said outside the parliament.

"And all right thinking people in this country should stand up and unitedly voice that come what may parliamentary institutions must be allowed to function with the norms as we have known them since India became independent," he told reporters.

In 20-day session, Parliament could run only seven days, the least days in the history of Parliament. Only six out of 31 listed bills could be passed in the houses.

The session ended after the last day's proceedings too were disrupted by the BJP over coal block allocations.

The BJP has been demanding prime minister's resignation as they have alleged that the allocations were made when he was coal minister.
