BMW hit-and-run-case: no more jail for Sanjeev Nanda

The Apex court upheld the Delhi High court decision to convict Sanjeev Nanda in 1999 BMW hit-and-run case in the national capital. The Supreme Court has convicted Nanda but did not enhance his sentence imposed by Delhi High court.

According to sources SC upheld the conviction of Sanjeev Nanda by Delhi High court from five years to two years. The trial court had sentenced Sanjeev Nanda to five years jail term in the case.

The SC has imposed a fine of Rs. 50 lakh on Nanda, which will be paid to center and utilized as compensation to the victims of hit-and-run case in 1999.

It is noted that Sanjeev Nanda is the main accused in the high profile BMW hit-and-run case in which six people were killed in the Jan 10,1999 incident.
