Hockey India congratulates Sardar Singh for Arjuna Award nomination

Hockey India on Saturday congratulated Indian Midfielder Sardar Singh for being named among the outstanding Indian Sportspersons who are to receive the Arjuna Award for the year 2011-12. The 26 year old proved to be an inspiration for all the emerging young hockey players of the country.

Sardar Singh has been showing terrific performance for last few tournaments and was selected as Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament held at New Delhi this February.

Sardar was also the player of the tournament in the 21st Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at Malaysia and Tri-Nation Hockey Tournament at Spain.

Sardar Singh has played 146 matches for India was also selected in the FIH World XI team for continuously two years in 2010 and 2011 for his outstanding performance.
