Geetika Sharma case:Gopal Kanda surrendered, arrested

After a high profile drama till night, former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda who is accused for abetting the suicide of former flight attendant Geetika Sharma surrendered early Saturday. After his surrender Police have arrested him and will be produced before court today.

Kanda has been Kanda had been absconding since Aug 8 after Geetika Sharma blamed him and another official of his now-defunct MDLR Airlines, Aruna Chadha, for harassing her and forcing her to commit suicide.

According to sources there were much drama in the surrender and arresting of Kanda as his brother informed about his surrender. But he surrendered early on Saturday. 

It is noted that Kanda owned the MDLR Airlines where Sharma worked as a flight attendant. After the airline ceased to function in 2009, Sharma was given a job in another company owned by him.

According to Geetika's brother, Ankit Sharma, Kanda and his colleague Aruna Chadha were constantly mentally harassing his sister.

Chadha, a senior functionary with now defunct MDLR airlines, has been arrested and is in judicial custody.

Kanda, who resigned as minister of state for home and urban local bodies in Haryana, was booked for abetment to suicide by Delhi Police.

It is noted that Delhi BJP and other political parties have made much hue and cry for not arresting Kanda by Delhi Police. Recently Delhi BJP Chief has met to CP Delhi Police to make pressure for his arresting.
