New Delhi, Fri, 13 Jul 2012 NI Wire

Delhi UD and Revenue Minister Dr. A.K. Walia stated that 98 unauthorized colonies which were anxiously awaiting developmental works as the UD Department has resolved the cases of these colonies which are having multiple RWAs. Dr. Walia further stated that his department has been continuously considering the cases of these colonies. It took up the issue with the Department of Forest, ASI and Revenue Department to overcome the problem.

Walia further said that the issue was discussed with the concerned RWAs after getting a report from the Survey of India. All these colonies were having 50% or more built up area as in 2007 as per reports submitted by the Survey of India. Since the cases of multiple RWAs have been resolved by interaction and the Forest Department and ASI have given their clearance, it becomes crystal clear that there remains no obstacle in taking up developmental works in such colonies.

Dr. Walia described this as a major step forward in the direction of providing civic services in such colonies. This will also put an end to all future obstacles in respect of such 98 colonies.

It is expected that lakhs of families putting up in these colonies will benefit with this decision. This will result in an era of planned development in 98 colonies which were awaiting civic amenities at par with other colonies.

The residents will become assured of a better surroundings and sanitation. All executing agencies for developmental works are being instructed accordingly. The agencies henceforth will take up execution of developmental works.
