China coerces woman into late-term abortion for not adhering to one-child policy

New Delhi, Wed, 11 Jul 2012 NI Wire

An allegation of forced late-term abortion in china has come to surface. As per reports, the incident took place in China's Fujian province, a Beijing-based lawyer has said.

As per BBC, Pan Chunyan's pregnancy was in the eight months in April when she was forced for abortion as the woman had violated the one-child policy, lawyer Zhang Kai said.

Husband of the woman has asked for the legal help after hearing about another recent forced late termination in Shaanxi province.

The case of Feng Jianmei caused outrage when photos of her still-born baby were published on the internet.

Rights groups said the law has meant women being forced to go for abortions, which Beijing denies.

Pan and her husband, Wu Liangjie are parents of two children.
