Apple appeals for Samsung Galaxy S3 sales ban in US

New Delhi, Fri, 08 Jun 2012 NI Wire

Apple has reportedly planned to interrupt the launch of latest Samsung Galaxy S3 phone in U.S. by appealing in a court to ban the sale of the latest smartphone temporarily.

Apple has claimed that the new Galaxy S3 breaches two of its patents and said the handset is 'not more than colorably different from the Galaxy Nexus', which created a dispute in the past.

Apple filed its complaint earlier this week and said it is still on the way to find whether S3 also breaches two other patents.

However, Samsung has denied the accusation, and has claimed that the launch will be held as per the schedule.

According to The Telegraph, Samsung said it believed Apple's request to be 'without merit'.

"We will vigorously oppose the request and demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S3 is innovative and distinctive," Samsung said in a statement.

According to the report, Samsung is going to launch Galaxy S3 in US on June 21.

The dispute is the latest in a long round of lawsuits and counter-lawsuits between the two companies.

Apple claims that Samsung's Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets are "slavish" copies of their iPhone and iPad designs.

The Korean-based firm has retaliated by claiming Apple has trespassed its 3G technology.
