Ramdev, Team Anna join hands in fight against corruption

It's one year now when Baba Ramdev was arrested by Delhi police in the mid night between 3-4 June last year for his agitation against black money, this time yoga guru Ramdev has joined hands with the anti-corruption zealot Anna Hazare for a day-long fast at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against corruption and black money today.

Ahead of the fast, Ramdev and Hazare went to Tikri Kalan village situated in the outskirts of Delhi to pay tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Thereafter, both headed to Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and sat there in meditation for a while, and then went to nearby Shahid Park where Ramdev garlanded the statues of martyrs.

While addressing to the reporters, at Tikri Kalan, Ramdev said "This is the beginning, the movement will gain momentum and by August it will take a huge form."

"Crores of people in the country will be standing with us. The government needs to take concrete steps against black money as we have demanded," he added.

Ramdev was accompanied by his close supporters Acharya Balkrishna, while Team Anna included Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi.

Both of them reached Jantar Mantar around 10 a.m along with a large number of supporters. At the site of the fast, a banner displaying the pictures of Rajbala, a 51-year-old woman who died after being injured during the police action against Baba Ramdev supporters at the Ramlila ground agitation last year, were on display.

Baba Ramdev is likely to announce a strategic plan for the 2014 general elections in this agitation and has said that the sit-in is being held by supporters other states too.

State police has made all possible arrangements for the sit-in at Jantar Mantar deploying Police personnel and 20 companies of paramilitary forces for the job along with CCTV cameras installed to maintain security.
