PPP proposed Raja Parvez Ashraf as a new candidate for PM

Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the ruling party in Pakistan has elected the name of former Water and Power minister Raja Parvez Ashraf as a replacement of ousted Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani, who was declared ?disqualified' by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on June 19, 2012.

PPP has selected the name of Raja, whose name is set to be approved by Parliamentarian by Friday evening.

Earlier, PPP has proposed the name of Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin as its first choice as a new PM, but a narcotics court in Pakistan had issued arrest warrant against Shahabuddin over his involvement into a drug scandal case.

Shahabuddin, however has got the bail today.

Informing to media, a senior leader of PPP said, "Raja Pervez Ashraf is our candidate."

"This is election year and we are going towards elections..........If we have committed some mistakes or did not fulfill our manifesto, then the decision should be left to the people of Pakistan," he added.
