Famous Pashto singer Ghazala Javed shot dead in Pakistan

Famous Pashto singer Ghazala Javed, who defied Taliban's decree over singing and dancing, has been shot dead along with her father by two motorcycle borne gunmen in Peshawar City of Pakistan when she went to a beauty parlour with her father Mohammad Javed on Monday night, according to Pakistan's leading newspaper Dawn.

The attack took place in Dabgari area when Ghazala was driving with her father from a beauty saloon on Monday night. Two motorcycle borne gunmen came to them and began to fire indiscriminately. She was hit with six bullets while her father got one in head.

However, the local police denied that Taliban's could be behind her murder but they believe that her estranged husband can be behind her murder.

Hailing from Swat valley, Javed married around two years ago to a Pakistani businessman but after acknowledging that he already have a wife, she estranged from him and begin to live with her father. She was asking for divorce to him.

On the other hand, Ghazala also got threat calls from Taliban's to leave her profession, which she defied.
