Rohini starved sisters' case: Father's death shocked them

Two traumatised sisters rescued from their house here were shocked by their father's death 10 years ago and a chain- snatching incident in which one of them lost her jewellery six years ago, according to news agency IANS which quoted it on the basis of an interview of their neighbour.

According to the news agency, a neighbour informed to its reporter that the two sisters' movements and their interaction with neighbours started reducing since their father's death. But, they completely locked themselves up inside the house around six-seven years ago." Roopwati, a neighbour, said.

She informed that the eldest sister Mamata's age is around 40 years and he has also teen son (Shubham), who has also been disconnected from the society, while her younger sister's Neerja's age is 29. She never got married.

But the elder sister got married some around 18 years ago, but she estranged to her husband just after few years and till then she never went to there.

Their condition deteriorated when their father Rajendra Gupta died, 10 years ago, IANS quoted. While an accident of gold chain snatching, which occurred some six years ago, created havoc for them and they disconnected from the society.

"The incident created panic in her mind and she locked herself inside the house. Her younger sister also followed her," she said.

Rajendra Gupta was the only bread winner of the family.

However, her wife is still alive and frequently come to them, another neighbour informed to media. She is around 65-70 year old.

A team of Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) on Saturday rescued them form their Rohini Sector - 08 residence and took them to Ambedkar hospital, where Mamata is admitted in ICU while Neerja has been shifted into a ward.
