SC defers its decision on disposing toxic wastes in Bhopal

The Supreme Court of India that is mulling about the health problems caused to toxic wastes lying in the Union Carbide India Ltd (UCIL) plant and wants to dispose it today defers its decision due to various issues raised by Madhya Pradesh government and some NGOs.
The Apex Court that is seriously considering that the toxic waste materials of Bhopal Gas Tragedy can even cause severe harm to the localities and desperately needs to dispose it, today upheld its decision as the decision of Group of Minister (GoM) is yet to come.
The GoM is considering on various issues pertaining to toxic wastes and its final decision is yet to come.
"We do not want that a single life should be affected," a bench comprising justice GS Singhvi and justice SJ Mukhopadhayay said while stressing that waste disposal has to be carried out without harming any individual.
The bench indicated if the GoM comes out with a decision, preferably within two weeks, the matter could be heard during the vacation and a request could be made to the Chief Justice of India for constituting a bench to hear it.
