Modi all set to sweep Gujarat Polls again:Opinion poll

New Delhi, Sun, 25 Nov 2012 NI Wire

It seems that the forthcoming election in Gujarat is going to provide Narendra Modi another five-year term as chief minister. The all efforts by opposition Congress and Keshu Bhai Patel to replace him are going to prove in vain as the latest survey done in the state shows the same opinion.

The facts have been surfaced by the opinion poll conducted by ABP News and AC Nielsen across 91 assembly constituencies in October.

According to opinion poll, which conducted all over Gujarat has projected 124 seats for the BJP, seven more than the 117 it won in the 2007 assembly election.

While the opinion poll brings cheers to the BJP and its supremo in Gujarat, Narendra Modi, it scales down the share of Congress seats to just 51. That is eight short of the 59 seats the party won in the last assembly elections.

Among the respondents were 16,384 common voters, while 910 opinion leaders were also interviewed.

The concluded survey indicated that while the BJP would get more seats, its share of votes would go down compared to 2007 assembly elections when the party had polled 49.12 percent votes. This time, the BJP would get 47 percent votes, the opinion poll has projected.

According to survey, the result for Congress and other parties are not so good. It hinted that Congress is to get lighter by eight seats, its vote share would remain at 38 percent as before.

The opinion poll paints a grim picture for former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel, giving him just three seats.

The opinion poll says that even after ten years being at the helm of the affairs in Gujarat, Modi continues to hold sway: 53 percent respondents said he should shift from the state to the national politics.

Modi's strong footing in urban Gujarat was evident in the opinion poll with 62 percent respondents in urban areas feeling that he should take to the centre and lead the BJP in the 2014 elections to the Lok Sabha.

Quite interesting survey. I must have discussed about election with atleast 1000 people in various constituencies in past 7-10 days. I had a different feeling as majority voiced that if the Growth of Gujarat would have been what it is being claimed then the story would have been different for us. There was also a concern for over expense made in media to remain in lime light. The factors which can make the poll correct are in fighting in second known party and late start by the third. I appeal to all to vote for the best candidate in the region. I also appeal to all those who are reading to exercise their right to vote and request other also to caste theit vote. Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat.
