IOC member praises Sochi Olympics bobsled track

Moscow, Nov 2 (IANS) Prince Albert II of Monaco, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOA), has hailed the bobsledding venues in Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi where the 2014 Winter Olympics will be held.

Prince Albert II visited Sochi's Sanki Sliding Centre Thursday and "praised" the bobsled track in Sochi, reports Xinhua.

The prince went to the venue along with Russian Olympic Committee President Alexander Zhukov, President of Russian Bobsled Federation Georgy Bedzhamov and President of the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation Ivo Ferriani.

The Sanki bobsled, luge and skeleton track currently hosts the Russia Cup test competitions in preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games.

The International Training Week is slated to start in Sochi Monday.

Under the theme of "Hot. Cool. Yours.", the Sochi Olympics will be opened Feb 7, 2014 and run until Feb 23. The Games will feature 98 medal events, which is 12 more than those of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.

In winter 2012-2013, a series of test competitions will be held in the Olympics venues.
