Sydney, Oct 22(ANI): Young fast bowler Patrick Cummins, who hasn't played a first-class match in over a year, is expected to be a part of a roster of five fast bowlers against the world number one side, South Africa.t is understood Cricket Australia (CA) has drawn a list of five fast bowlers for every series, and Cummins is one of them for the Proteas tour.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, it is believed selectors want to preserve Cummins for the third and final Test on the bouncy WACA deck, which would allow CA to gradually lift the talented youngster's workload.
Cummins has said he wants to play in at least two Sheffield Shield games before he is given a Test recall, a view echoed by his management, and with Australia considering playing a four-man pace attack at the Gabba, there is a chance Cummins may be one of five fast bowlers named in the squad for the series-opener, although he's an outsider to play, the paper added.
Cummins has played just four first-class matches in his short career, the last of which was his memorable Test debut last November, but has already represented Australia 16 times in the limited-overs format, it said. (ANI)
