Imphal, Oct.21 (ANI): Police commandos and paramilitary personnel on Sunday arrested three militants in separate counter insurgency operations here, and seized 250 grams of RDX from them.
Commandos, attached to Imphal West district police conducted an overnight operation in the Tera Sapam Leirak area that lies on the periphery of state capital Imphal after receiving reports of suspected ultras moving in the area.
During the search operation, one militant identified as Lairenjam Sanjit,38, was arrested along with 250 grams of RDX, soldering paste, electric soldering rod, one multi-meter and a two-foot-long wire.
In another operation, the 16th battalion of the Assam Rifles arrested Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) militant Paothang Khongsai in the Maokot Hill area of Manipur's Ukhrul district, which borders Myanmar.
Eleven rounds of ammunition, six detonators, 600 gm of plastic explosives and some other explosive materials were recovered from his possession, police said.
Police commandos also arrested Markanto Singh, an active worker of the Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL) in the Nambol area of the state's Bishenpur district last evening.
One 9 mm pistol, one grenade and three live rounds of ammunition were recovered from him. (ANI)
