New Delhi, Oct 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Balbir Punj on Thursday asked Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, who is embroiled in a controversy over allegations of forgery involving his NGO, to maintain his cool and not use distasteful language against anybody.
"Many serious allegations have been made and with lot of evidence against the NGO, which is being run by Mr. Khurshid and his wife. And in the wake of these allegations, the honourable Minister who is otherwise known for his good temperaments, sweet nature and very civilized and polished, I don't know why he has just gone berserk and used very objectionable language which is not at all acceptable in civil society and in a civil discourse," said Punj.
"He has been virtually threatening people. So, he must maintain his cool and the language he did use needs to be condemned," he added.
Punj further demanded that an impartial probe should be conducted against Khurshid's NGO in the wake of the allegations levelled against it.
"And since many serious allegations have been made against his NGO, I think an impartial and objective inquiry should be ordered and in fact he should also welcome it. Let the facts come out and accordingly the action can be taken," he said.
India Against Corruption (IAC) activist Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the Law Minister's threat yesterday by saying that killing him would not help.
Asserting that Khurshid's 'threat' underlined the Congress's innocence about the depth of popular disgust against corruption, Kejriwal asked the ruling party to take some serious steps against corruption instead of holding out threats.
"Killing me won't help because the country has been awakened. If one Arvind is killed, there will be another 100 Arvinds. Rather than threatening like this, it would be better that the Congress sensed the anger of people and took some steps," Kejriwal told mediapersons in Kaushambi.
"We will go to Farrukhabad and come back. My life is not in Khurshid's hands, my life is in god's hands," he added.
Launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal, Khurshid earlier said that 'till now he has been wielding a pen and it is time to replace ink with blood'.
"I was made the Law Minister and asked to wield a pen...now it is time to replace it with blood. Let him (Kejriwal) come to Farrukhabad; how will he go back...Kejriwal says he will ask the questions and asks us to give the answers, you have heard what we have to say, you will forget the questions," he said.
Khurshid, however, later clarified his statement, saying he was misquoted. (ANI)
