New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) In order to create awareness and urge people to make walking a habit, a multi-city walk for health will be organised in 11 cities of the country by a health care provider for people of all age groups.
"The walk for health will be organised in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Surat, Pune and Kochi Oct 27-28. This will be followed by Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore on Nov 4," a statement said here Tuesday.

"We have taken up the cause of walking as it is one of the simplest and most accessible forms of physical activity. Through this initiative, we aim to spread awareness about the benefits of walking and encourage people to build more walking into their everyday life to enhance their overall well-being," Manasije Mishra, chief executive (designate), Max Bupa said.
According to a study by the health care provider, 13 percent of men and 15 percent of women in the country use their cars for commuting to places which are at a walking distance.
The research also showcased that the figure is much higher than other countries such as the United States, Hong Kong, Egypt and Brazil.
