Washington, Sept 10 (ANI): James Cameron, who broke records by plunging seven miles underwater to reach the ocean's deepest point, treated his fans to a glimpse of the solo dive by presenting his first 3D clips of the journey on Sunday.

The 'Avatar' filmmaker plunged underwater to reach the Mariana Trench of the Pacific Ocean, southwest of Guam, breaking his own previous record of five miles off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

He screened the 3D footage of the trip for the first time at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which also showed the moment his lone sub touched the bottom.

"Why set a world record if you're not going to shoot it in 3D?" Contactmusic quoted Cameron as saying.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the video showed images of unique underwater life, as well as Cameron and his team building the sub in the months leading up to the dive. (ANI)
