London, Aug 30(ANI): South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius, also known as the "Blade Runner" has joined famous cartoon character Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher for an adventure in this week's edition of popular comic, The Beano.
Pistorius, who made history by becoming the first amputee sprinter to compete at the Olympics earlier this month, is following in the footsteps of Jessica Ennis, who became a Beano character after her Olympic heptathlon gold.
The blade runner has been given the nickname Victorious in the comic strip.
"Our readers loved the Olympics and our decision to feature Jessica Ennis on the cover was well received," The Daily Express quoted Mike Stirling, editor of The Beano, as saying.
"We know the Paralympics are just as popular and, for our readers, there was only one athlete to symbolise these - Oscar 'Victorious' Pistorius," he added.
The runner will be defending the T44 100m, 200m and 400m titles he won at the Paralympic Games in Beijing four years ago.
Along with the photograph of the heroic athlete in action on the cover, the Beano will feature a profile of him and show how his blades work. (ANI)
