Mancini sets 'five-day deadline' to Man City board for salvaging PL title

London , Mon, 27 Aug 2012 ANI

London, Aug 27(ANI): Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has claimed that the club's transfer activity in the last five days before the transfer window shuts could decide the destiny of their Premier League defence.

Mancini, whose side came from behind twice against Liverpool on Sunday to draw 2-2 at Anfield, is adamant that his club must spend.

A 6.2 million pound deal for Swansea winger Scott Sinclair is in place and will be formalised by Tuesday but Mancini is determined to bring in a major name.

The Italian, who has often expressed his frustration over lack of transfer activity at City, has been pursuing Atletico Bilbao's Javi Martinez, Stevan Jovetic of Fiorentina and Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

"We need to bring players in and we have five days in which to do it. We have to work hard in these four or five days. It will be a long week for us," The Daily Mail quoted Mancini, as saying.

"Yes (it will decide how we perform) we have our targets and we will go for them in the next five days," he added.

Meanwhile, Mancini also ruled out a move for Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, who was the subject of a 20 million pounds bid from City earlier this month. (ANI)
