Tokyo, Aug. 22 (Xinhua-ANI): Local police in Japan found piles of cash amounting nearly 150 million yen (about 1.26 million U.S. dollars) in the mountains of southwestern Japanese Prefecture of Kumamoto during the arrest of two men suspected of stealing the money from a house, local press reported on Wednesday.
The cash piles were dug out by the prefectural police teams from the ground at a place in the mountains near Takamori Town of the prefecture by Tuesday evening, the report said.
The report cited the police as saying that two men were arrested for allegedly stealing 150 million yen in cash on August 11 from a house in Kumamoto City, in which a company president is living.
According to the report, one of the suspects admitted that he had stolen the cash and transported it to the mountains by car before burying under the earth to keep it for future use.
The police is continuing to investigate details of the crime, while correctly counting bills seized after the discovery. (Xinhua-ANI)
