Euphoric Team GB athletes in all-night booze bender following golden Games

London, Aug 14(ANI): Athletes from Team Great Britain indulged in an all-night party, stocked with copious amount of alcohol, to mark UK's best ever performance at Olympics since 1904 after the closing ceremony of the London Games on Sunday.

Many athletes quickly left the official champagne reception at Team GB House in Stratford, attended by politicians and officials, to party with fellow athletes.

The athletes gathered to sit on chairs, walls and even the ground, where they consumed copious amounts of alcohol from plastic cups and cans, The Daily Mail reports.

For many sportspersons, it was the first drink they had enjoyed in months, or in some cases, years.

After winning her gold medal, rower Helen Glover admitted she would be a 'liability' when she had her first celebratory drink, after not touching a drop since she began training four years ago.

She came out from the village looking bleary-eyed and clutching her official London 2012 duvet, which athletes had been invited to keep as souvenirs.

Double gold medallist Mo Farah was among those who got into the party spirit, as during the ceremony, he charmed a volunteer into letting him wear her purple bowler hat with a light bulb on top.

The long distance runner then posed with fans in his newly acquired hat outside the stadium, before being mobbed by spectators.

Hammer thrower Sophie Hitchon also had a good time, tweeting a picture of her clutching two glasses of wine in a green chair in a courtyard of the village.

Another photograph showed the men's gold medal-winning cycling track pursuit team lying on top of each other in a heap on the floor. (ANI)
